Today’s post is about a project that I’m ready to make some headway with. When I saw this on My Life in Binding’s blog:

I knew I wanted it as a baby quilt for a friend but in these pinks:
Can’t get enough of these!
It’s a pattern from the Moda Bake Shop called All Framed Up. I had hoped to finish the top within a week but as it turned out, it took about two weeks before I got it completed. While I do love the colours, it was a headache in the making. As mentioned in another post, I usually follow directions but this time I didn’t and that was a good thing. It’s an effective result but I found it annoyingly tedious to put together. Yes, even as OCD as I think I am, I would call instructions that call for 128 strips 1″ by varying lengths “tedious”. 
Not a big deal. Instead of making the individual strips as directed, I did something similar to chain piecing. I cut long white strips along the selvage and then placed the coloured squares along the white strip, cutting them apart afterwards. The final product is lovely.
All Framed Up in Pink (40″ square)
I’ll back & bind it with bright pink flannel. (Update: you can see the final quilted version here.) That will be nice and bright, perfect for the intended little girl. I know it will be well appreciated. Now I just need to decide how I want to quilt it. I’m thinking something all over, with hearts. I wish I could keep it for myself. Sigh. I hope I’m not the only one who feels this way about gift quilts.

What a fabulous combination of fabrics. Love those colours and those prints! You did an awesome job of the piecing. Looking forward to seeing her all backed, quilted up and bound! It’s a gorgeous top!
